Embracing my passion for visual storytelling

Since I was 14, borrowing my brother's DSLR was one of my favorite things to do.

High school was one of the first times I was able to use photography to illustrate beautiful countries, cultures, and people. I was fortunate to be the recipient of two different grants where I could explore this passion abroad. Since then, I have traveled both within the United States and internationally- always making sure to pack my trusty Canon. Below you will find work from my recent month-long trip to Vietnam, a semester studying in New York City, a summer program in Barcelona, and a stay in Israel.

My most recent global experience was hosted by my college, Elon University. One of many options during Elon's January Term is a short-term study abroad trip for three to four weeks. Elon offers trips in multiple continents on various topics and I was drawn to the Vietnam Business and Culture trip. This opportunity allowed me to create my own perspective on a country whose history was taught summarized into one lesson in history class. I knew there were parts of Vietnamese culture that I was missing out on, a piece only accessible by interacting and observing citizens. With this goal in mind, I packed up my camera for the 18 hour travel day, eager for the first time I could bring it out. These images and the ones to follow were taken in Hanoi, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and Mai Chau.

I've always been captivated to the human experience. Photography as a storytelling medium allows the viewer to then imagine and determine a perspective, a moment, an interaction, that makes sense with that photograph. Traveling to multiple continents has allowed me to cross paths with, shoot, and tell more stories than I ever imagined.
